         (1) When an action was happening during a period of time in the past, we use "Past Continuous Tense".
當一個動作是在過去某一段時間中正在進行的，我們便用「過去進行式」。

I was sleeping when my mother left home this morning.

& V& ^6 W  S5 h4 u" F(2) When we change the verb into "Past Continuous Tense" form, we write the verb in the following ways:

(3) Usually, we use the "Past Continuous Tense" with the "Simple Past Tense" and we would use "when" or "while" to join the two actions in the sentence.

An apple fell on Tom's head while he was waiting at the bus stop.

Past Continuous Tense + Past Continuous Tense:
Sharon and Connie were watching television while Mrs Lee was cooking in the kitchen last night.
I was singing a song while Dad was playing the piano yesterday.
